When two decades? worth of doomsday scientific reports fail to convince a majority of Americans that climate change is A) absolutely real and B) absolutely worth throwing the kitchen sink at to stop, maybe the only recourse is to take the complete opposite tonal approach?and, you know, persuade the disbelievers with biting humor.
Enter comedian Louis C.K.
In his 2011 Louis C.K. Live at the Beacon Theater?concert film, the self-deprecating jokesmith imagines God coming back to Earth after having been away for a few eons, taking a look around, and seeing that we somehow managed to turn his world of everlasting ecological possibilities into infinite strip malls and endless concrete jungles. Disgusted, God then cross-examines some unsuspecting Earthling about WTF happened.
Animator John Roney recently took C.K.?s bit and turned it into a two-minute animation.
Before you watch: As with everything C.K., there?s decidedly NSFW language in here.
So if you?re at work or near kids, wear a headset.
Unless of course your crazy Uncle Teddy, an unabashed climate change denier, is asleep on his La-Z-Boy in the next room. In that case, play it loud and play it again?and again and again.
