Razldazl Rioga, Razldazl George set to quality for third round - Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park
D. Ruth?s hounds have a tradition of making it to the final rounds of big events. The veteran trainer is being represented by many dangerous runners in the ongoing Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park.
The championship has reached its second round, taking place on Saturday, August 11th. Heat 15 has attracted two of Ruth?s entries, Razldazl Rioga and Razldazl George. Both hounds are mighty talented, and we expect them to be among top three position holders.
Razldazl Rioga has a little advantage over his fellow, as he is currently in very good form. The black dog came to this venue after showing a couple of brilliant performances at Tralee. After bagging the gold medal only by a head?s distance, Brett Lee?s son raised his game to secure a comfortable win at the end of last month.
He dominated the proceedings all the way through, defeating Ballymac Vic by one and a half lengths. The dashing hound, however, could not maintain the standards at this track, as he finished third behind Sawpit Sensation in the opening round of the Derby.
It was Razldazl Rioga?s first outing at Shelbourne Park after a gap of more than 12 months. Although he was not disgraced, his performance was certainly below par. He has familiarised himself with the conditions and thus, one can easily expect him to come up with a lot better effort this time.
The main danger is his kennel-mate, Razldazl George. The brindle dog is not in the best of form these days, but still one should not overlook the class he possesses.
Other four runners in the crew are: Barefoot Allstar, Mays Milan, Locnamon Royal and Tyrur Thomas. The 550 yards heat will be commenced at 22:00 GMT.
Barefoot Allstar is the only one with the ability to trouble Ruth?s pair. Although the black dog is not in good rhythm, starting the race from the red box might work as an advantage for him.
There will be a tough battle between Razldazl Rioga and Razldazl George. The former is in far better form, and should be preferred. Good luck to all the runners.
